Mission and purpose

The Resident Advisory Council (RAC) provides the DPW with community input and guidance on solid waste, water, and wastewater policies and services. RAC also collaborates on innovative solutions to some of the City’s longest-standing issues involving waste, blight and illegal  dumping throughout Baltimore.

Vision

RAC will foster cooperative working relationships with customers, residents and all stakeholders in developing initiatives and resolutions to public-facing problems involving DPW services.

The Director of Public Works will solicit input from the community to help in the establishment of all policies, directives, and initiatives.

Membership

Approximately 20 Baltimore City residents serve on RAC, representing a cross section of community-based interests. The Director of the Department of Public Works chairs the RAC. Representatives from other City Departments are invited to serve as ad hoc advisory members at the request of the RAC.
