Water Quality

DPW’s Office of Laboratories works hard to ensure that we provide high-quality drinking water. We produce annual Water Quality Reports and provide monthly data based on the bacteriological test results for the City’s Water Distribution System.

Wastewater Management

After the water goes down the drain, DPW cleans it and discharges the cleanest water possible to the Chesapeake Bay. Our goal is to protect the environment. DPW operates two of the largest wastewater treatment plants on the East Coast: Back River Patapsco. DPW works with state and community partners to maintain compliance at these facilities. Our wastewater employees work daily to deliver best-in class service to the Baltimore region.
