Proactive Repairs Completed on SW Baltimore Water Main
Work Continues On Light Street Break
BALTIMORE (July 23, 2012) – Public Works Director Alfred H. Foxx announced today that replacement work has been completed on three 16-foot sections of a 54-inch water main near Whistler and Wilmarco Avenues, SW Baltimore City. Work began on Monday, July 16 after an inspection using the latest in electromagnetic and acoustic fiber optic technologies discovered the potential for a major water main failure. Working with our partners in Baltimore, Anne Arundel and Howard Counties, the Department of Public Works proactively replaced the three vulnerable sections in order to avoid the potential for a future catastrophic break. The main is currently functioning at normal capacity.
Due to ongoing repair work by Howard County on another transmission main, water conservation measures are still needed in Howard County, Baltimore County and Baltimore City...
