UPDATE ON E. MONUMENT STREET SINKHOLE

Public Works Director Alfred H. Foxx today provided an update on the
actions the Department is taking to address a sinkhole which opened in
the 2300 block of E. Monument St. early yesterday afternoon. The hole,
which has closed E. Monument St. between Patterson Park Ave. and Milton
St. is an opening in a storm drain tunnel. The brick tunnel dates to
at least 1901 and is 10 feet in diameter. When the hole appeared a gas
leak occurred and that has been made safe.

Residents who enroll in paperless billing by Friday, June 30, will receive the 5% discount.
