The Replacement of the Light Street Water Infrastructure is complete and paving begins
Public Works Director Alfred H. Foxx today announced that the water infrastructure renewal work on Light Street between Baltimore Street and Lombard Street has been completed.
When a 20-inch water main broke on Light St. on July 16 it was decided that a proactive and fiscally responsible approach was best. Therefore a multi-block, total-main replacement was undertaken, rather than installing one section of new pipe onto a 19th century water line. A parallel, century-old, 10-inch main was also replaced while the street was opened, as well as a 12-inch main along Redwood Street. New large water service connections were also being installed.
