BALTIMORE, MD (May 16, 2013) – Saturday, May 18, will be the last time you will be able to view the “Salvage” art show (sponsored by Waste Management), so be sure to stop by and view these creative, provocative works made from curbside recyclable materials. The exhibition closes on Saturday, May 18, and hosts its closing night celebration on Friday, May 17, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with light refreshments and entertainment by the 901 Arts Drumline percussion group – a youth drumming group from the 901 Arts Center of Better Waverly neighborhood. The exhibition is at the Baltimore Public Works Museum building, 751 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21202. Public hours are Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.

Also at the closing event will be the three winning artists whose works won prizes based on their concept, aesthetics and overall creativity:

•  Grand Prize - $500: Katie Chen’s Anthro en Vogue
•  Second Place - $250: Stephen Towns’ Brown Paper Bag Test
•  Third Place - $150: Laure Drogoul’s Lanterns

“Salvage was a wonderful show and a great opportunity for the Department of Public Waste to kick off its Drive to 35 Recycling Campaign,” says Director Foxx. “I hope that it helped Baltimore residents to understand how recyclable materials can live again, in this case as interesting works of art.”
