September 27, 2013 (Baltimore, MD) — Public Works Director Alfred H. Foxx reminds residents that Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake’s 2013 Fall Cleanup is on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The 2013 theme, FALL IN BALTIMORE: NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN SWEEP, encourages Baltimore residents to make a commitment to clean their neighborhoods and to make this year’s cleanup the most successful one ever.

Baltimore residents are encouraged to pick a location that needs a special cleanup and call 311 to register. Participating communities are asked to bag and stack debris at a designated collection location so that it can be picked up on Monday, October 28. Participants should provide the debris pickup location when they register at 311. Free garbage bags are available to registered communities at the following DPW locations: 111 Kane Street, Baltimore, MD 21224 (October 21 to 25, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and 2840 Sisson Street, Baltimore, MD 21211 (October 21 to 25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

For communities who need additional tools for their cleanup, the Baltimore Community ToolBank is a nonprofit organization that loans tools and equipment to community groups and gardens, neighborhood associations, and other charitable organizations for just three cents on the dollar per week. They have everything your group might need—shovels, rakes, trash cans, buckets and much more. Whether you are joining the Mayor’s Fall Cleanup or working to create a better Baltimore year-round, your group can borrow $1,000 worth of tools for just $30. Membership is free and they are reserving tools now for fall projects, so make sure to get tools lined up for your upcoming events.
