BALTIMORE, MD — Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., today announced the following adjustments to our Bureau of Solid Waste operations:
 

1. Trash and recycling continues to be collected today, Friday, March 6; however it is NOT being collected from ice-covered alleys. DPW will attempt to address all scheduled locations where we can get access.
2. Solid Waste collections were suspended Thursday due to the weather. Those citizens who have Thursday trash or recycling collection will have these materials collected tomorrow, Saturday, March 7. Icy alleys and a few other difficult areas may have to wait until the next scheduled collection day. All collection operations should be back to normal beginning Tuesday, March 10.
3. Mechanical street sweeping will resume as ice thaws on the streets and along the curbs. We will update the status of that on Sunday evening.
4. All Solid Waste yards and drop-off centers are open on a regular schedule for trash, recycling and bulk items. For a list of these locations please go here: http://publicworks.baltimorecity.gov/Recycling/CitizenDrop-OffCenters.aspx

Water Services:

Crews continue to restore water services throughout Baltimore City and County. There are approximately 300 services without water and there are a total of 288 service repairs in progress at this time. There are also approximately 20 water main breaks being addressed by contractors.

As a reminder, Baltimore will experience another very cold night tonight. Please keep your water service lines and meter from freezing by allowing a very thin stream of water to continuously flow from a basement faucet.  

If you have a water outage or other water concern please call 311 in Baltimore City, or 410-396-5352 in Baltimore County. Additionally, please remove the snow from your meter vault lid so that crews can have access to it.

All citizens are asked to clear storm drain inlets near their properties. By doing so it will allow for the drainage of melt water as thawing occurs this weekend. This will help to eliminate flooding and refreezing of water on roadways.
