Boating Season Opens at Liberty Reservoir
BALTIMORE, MD — Due to the ice-melting effects of recent weeks’ higher temperatures, the Department of Public Works (DPW) today opened the two boat ramps at Liberty Reservoir. DPW cautions that ice remains in some Liberty Reservoir coves.
Prettyboy Reservoir remains closed to boaters, with large sections of the reservoir still covered with ice. At Liberty and Prettyboy reservoirs, boating season normally runs from March 1 to December 31.
At Loch Raven Reservoir, boating season is still on schedule to open April 3 and go to the last Sunday in November, with a limited schedule after Labor Day.
Boating at all three City reservoirs requires a valid boating permit. For information on permits, please call DPW Natural Resources at 410-795-6150. Boating and reservoir rules and regulations, as well as watercraft permit applications, are available at http://publicworks.baltimorecity.gov.
