Temporary Water Outage for Portions of Woodbourne Avenue
Approximately 200 Baltimore City water services will be temporarily shut down overnight on Monday, December 5, 2016 beginning at 7:00 p.m., and lasting until approximately 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. The reason for this is the needed replacement of six water valves along three water mains on Woodbourne Avenue in northeast Baltimore.
The affected areas are:
- Woodbourne Avenue between Perring Parkway and Lothian Road
- The Alameda between Beaumont Avenue and Woodbourne Avenue
- Woodmont Avenue between Woodbourne Avenue and Lochner Road (east side of street)
- Woodmont Avenue between Woodbourne Avenue and Cochran Avenue
Customers in these locations are advised to fill containers with several gallons of water prior to the shut-off for drinking and personal hygiene. Once water service returns, running the taps will help clear any residual cloudiness. Removing the aerator from the faucet(s) during this process will prevent sediment build up.
If customers do not have water service after 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, they are urged to contact 311.
These valve replacements are part of Baltimore City’s ongoing water system upgrades which include repair/rehabilitation of 15 miles of water mains each year.
