Temporary Closure of Portion of West Mulberry Street - Sewer Rehabilitation Work
Baltimore City Department of Public Works Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., today provided an update on the sewer infrastructure repairs in Mount Vernon. Beginning Wednesday, January 4, 2017, until approximately Wednesday, January 11, 2017, West Mulberry Street between Howard Street and Park Avenue will be closed. Both Park Avenue and Howard Street will remain open.
The road closure will facilitate the cured-in-place lining of an eighty inch diameter sewer, which is a portion of the same line that has collapsed in three locations over the past eight months. The working hours will vary, but will be 24 hours per day for the majority of the closure due to the nature of the work.
West Mulberry Street between Greene Street and Paca Street remains closed as work continues on a section of that street that collapsed on July 4, 2016. Cathedral Street between Madison Street and Mt. Vernon Place, along with an adjacent portion of West Mt. Vernon Place, remains closed for additional sewer infrastructure restoration.
West Mulberry Street is expected to reopen in its entirety in mid-February, weather permitting. Cathedral Street is expected to reopen in March.
