Is part of your New Year’s resolution to become a better recycler? Not to forget your scheduled collection day? Recycle right by not putting the wrong thing in the bin?

Become a better recycler by downloading the free Recycle Coach app, which will be available to Baltimore City residents on Monday, Jan. 14.

With Recycle Coach, residents can:

• Stay organized with custom curbside collection calendars
• Receive weekly prompts for recycling and trash collections
• Get reminders for schedule changes due to holidays
• Take a quiz to find out how well you recycle

Download the Recycle Coach app for free at the iTunes Store and Google Play. Residents can access Recycle Coach from their desktop computers, mobile devices, or through digital assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Home.

“Recycle Coach takes the guesswork out of recycling, giving residents a tool to reduce household waste,” said Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E. “For Baltimore, this platform will bring increased simplicity to the City’s single-stream recycling program.”

To celebrate the availability of the Recycle Coach app, DPW is holding a pop-up recycle bin sale on Monday, Jan. 14. The bin sale will take place from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the lobby of the Abel Wolman Municipal Building, 200 Holliday St. The City’s bright yellow recycling bins will be on sale: 25-gallon cans and lid, $10; and the 18-gallon bins, $4.

When visiting the Jan. 14 recycle bin sale, pull out your cell phone to show DPW’s recycling associates that you have downloaded the free Recycle Coach application and receive a free re-usable tote bag. A recycle bin purchase is not necessary to receive a free tote bag after downloading the app.
