The “Less Waste, Better Baltimore” planning process is moving into another community! The next meeting is from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Monday, March 11, at the Shake and Bake Family Fun Center, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) wants to hear how the City can improve recycling and create better trash disposal options. Residents and representatives from Baltimore City businesses, schools, and institutions are all invited to attend this meeting, as are public-and private-sector stakeholders, including environmental advocates.

The meeting will allow attendees to help shape a waste management plan that will guide the City's sanitation policies for decades. At the meeting, a brief overview of the “Less Waste, Better Baltimore” project’s objectives and progress to date will be provided. The majority of the meeting will consist of a discussion of any solid waste management and diversion options that meeting attendees think should be considered in the study.

An initial “Less Waste, Better Baltimore” meeting was held Feb. 28 at Edmondson-Westside High School. Additional meeting dates and locations will be announced.
