Statement: Body found at Back River Treatment Plant
Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Matthew W. Garbark issued the following statement on the discovery of a body at the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant on February 21, 2020:
Sadly, we report this morning that at approximately 8:24 a.m., Officers were called to the 8200 block of Eastern Avenue, 21224, where the body of a man was discovered in an inlet pipe at the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant located in Baltimore County. The individual was deceased, and the body has been recovered. It is confirmed that the body was not that of a DPW employee or contractor.
The circumstances of the death are unknown at this time. The body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.
Detectives have been on the scene investigating all morning. Baltimore County Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.
