Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Days & July 4 Holiday Notice
Baltimore City Department of Public Works Acting Director Matthew W. Garbark has announced that the Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off event for July will occur on Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11. This is a correction to the dates noted in the 2020 DPW Calendar. The event will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on both days, July 10 and 11, at the Sisson Street Drop-off Center, located at 2840 Sisson Street.
Residents who come to the July Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Event are asked to wear a face covering and to stay inside their vehicles. This event is for Baltimore City residents only, and is not intended for businesses or commercial users.
Household hazardous waste includes materials such as household cleaning products, bleach, ammonia, batteries, solvents, oil-based paint, etc. Latex paint is not considered hazardous and should be dried out and disposed of with your regular trash, or donated. A full list of materials that are acceptable/unacceptable can be found on the Department of Public Works website: https://publicworks.baltimorecity.gov/recycling-services.
Additional Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off events are also scheduled to take place at the Sisson Street Drop-Off Center, at 2840 Sisson Street, through October. These events will be held on the first consecutive Friday and Saturday of the month as follows:
August 7 – 8 from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
September 4 – 5 from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
October 2 – 3 from 9:00 until 5:00 p.m.
JULY 4 HOLIDAY NOTICE
DPW offices will be closed on Friday, July 3 in observance of Independence Day. However, curbside collections will occur as normal on Friday, July 3. This is a correction to the dates noted in the 2020 DPW Calendar. The following DPW Solid Waste yards are open on July 3:
- Sisson Street Drop-Off Center, located at 2840 Sisson Street, Mon. –Sat., 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Northwest Transfer Station, located at 5030 Reisterstown Road, Mon. – Sat., 7:00 a.m. to 5: 00 p.m.
- Quarantine Road Landfill, located at 6100 Quarantine Road. Mon. – Sat., 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday, July 4: The Northwest Citizens’ Convenience Center, the Northwest Transfer Station and the Quarantine Road Landfill will be closed on Saturday, July 4. The residential drop-off centers at Reedbird and Bowleys Lane remain closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mechanical Street Sweeping remains suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
