Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Acting Director Matthew W. Garbark announced yesterday, implementation of a plan to temporarily replace curbside residential recycling collections beginning Monday, August 31 with Community Collection Centers for recycling. These Centers will consist of a roll-off dumpster/load packers, that will be manned daily and located at central locations in each of Baltimore’s 14 City Council Districts. The Centers will remain available to residents through November 1, from 7 a.m.- 3 p.m. This plan offers a community-friendly partnership to residents that enables DPW to continue recycling collection services without compromising trash collections, which are essential during this time.

Unlike other cities, DPW has tried to avoid decisions such as this, but recycling services have become overwhelming for the Department and its workers. Individuals interested in working in the DPW Bureau of Solid Waste as a CDL Driver and/or Laborer may contact DPW Human Resources at 410-396-3330.

Community Collection Center Locations

Note: Two of the Community Collection Centers listed below are DPW’s Citizens’ Convenience Drop-off Centers located on Reedbird Avenue and Bowleys Lane. These locations will be reopened to accept trash and recycling with hours noted below.
