Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Jason W. Mitchell reminds residents that Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6, 2021, is a City holiday. DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED.

Weekly trash and recycling collections are NOT impacted by the Labor Day closure. Monday is not a scheduled curbside trash or recycling collection day.

DPW facilities closed on Labor Day to residents and haulers include:
• Northwest Transfer Station, 5030 Reisterstown Road
• Quarantine Road Landfill, 6100 Quarantine Road
• Northwest Citizens' Convenience Center, 2840 Sisson Street
• Southwestern Citizens’ Convenience Center, 701 Reedbird Avenue
• Eastern Citizens’ Convenience Center, 6101 Bowleys Lane

Extended summer hours for DPW Drop-off Centers end after Labor Day, and will begin operating from 9 a.m. – 5p.m., Monday-Saturday.

Please note that the Northwest Transfer Station will remain open from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. and the Quarantine Road Landfill's Residential Drop-off will remain open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection: Sept. 3 & 4

Baltimore residents have an opportunity to clear out Household Hazardous Waste this Labor Day weekend. Household Hazardous Waste collections will be Friday, Sept. 3 and Saturday, Sept. 4 from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. at 2840 Sisson Street.

This is an opportunity for Baltimore City residents to dispose of hazardous household materials such as oil-based paints, pesticides, herbicides, car and household batteries, drain cleaners, pool chemicals, and many other items. Latex paint is NOT hazardous waste, it can be dried up and the cans put out for regular trash collection.
