DPW Prepares to Launch City’s 43rd Annual Mitten Tree Campaign New Date Set for Kick-Off Ceremony: Friday, Dec. 9; 11:30 a.m.
The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) invites area citizens to donate mittens, gloves, hats, and scarves to help make this winter warmer for children in need, as DPW prepares for the start of the 2016 Mitten Tree Campaign.
On Friday, December 9, the City’s 43rd annual Mitten Tree Campaign launches with a holiday-themed celebration in the lobby of the Abel Wolman Municipal Building, 200 Holliday Street. The Mitten Tree Ceremony will start at 11:30 a.m. The kick-off ceremony was previously scheduled for Thursday, December. 8.
This year’s ceremony will feature musical performances by the students from Abbottston Elementary School and the Boys and Girls Club - Franklin Square.
Citizens and employees of Baltimore City are encouraged to leave donations of mittens, gloves, hats, and scarves in the collection bin in the lobby of the Abel Wolman Municipal Building.
Mitten Tree donations will be accepted through Wednesday, December 21, and distributed by the Salvation Army’s Franklin Square Boys and Girls Club located at 215 N. Calhoun Street in West Baltimore.
