DPW supports economic and business development in Baltimore City and throughout the region. There are many ways to work with DPW. You can explore career and job-training opportunities, apply to participate in our Small Business Development Program, or find information on how to pre-qualify for City of Baltimore Contracts.

Solid Waste Services

It's a fact! DPW removes nearly 180,000 tons of solid waste each year. Our Residential Drop Off Centers include five convenient drive up and drop off trash and recycling sites.

Customer Service

Our customer service call center assists hundreds of residents each day. Our team is ready to answer questions about billing, services, and support programs available to Baltimore residents.

Your Water

Baltimore City Department of Public Works values its role as the region’s water provider. Our team at DPW accepts the challenges and responsibilities that come with providing high-quality drinking water to 1.8 million people in the Baltimore region.

DPW Offices, Sanitation Yards Closed Memorial Day: Monday, May 29 Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Jason W. Mitchell reminds residents that Memorial Day is on Monday, May 29, 2023, and is a City-observed holiday. DPW offices and sanitation yards will be CLOSED. Weekly trash and recycling collections are NOT impacted by the Memorial Day closure. Monday is not a scheduled curbside trash or recycling collection day. DPW facilities closed on Memorial Day to residents and haulers include: Northwest Transfer Station, 5030 Reisterstown Road Quarantine Road Landfill, 6100 Quarantine Road Northwest Residential Drop-off  Center, 2840 Sisson Street Southwestern Residential Drop-off Center, 701 Reedbird Avenue Eastern Residential Drop-off Center, 6101 Bowleys

Draft 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan Submitted to Maryland Department of the Environment

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works has submitted its draft of the 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan to the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) for the state agency’s approval. The plan is available on the DPW website. MDE will provide its comments within 60 days. Following the state's feedback, the draft plan must be adopted by the Mayor and Baltimore City Council. Once approved by MDE and adopted by the City Council, the plan will go into effect in January 2024. DPW is grateful for the thoughtful engagement, comments and questions from community members. This feedback has been critical to helping us develop the final draft plan. DPW received a total of 768 comments from public testimony and written feedback.           Water Restored After Steam Explosion         and Water Main Break in Downtown Baltimore BALTIMORE, MD. (Monday, May 15, 2023) - Businesses can now breathe a sigh of relief as water has been restored after an explosion and water main break caused a water outage at the Marriott Inner Harbor and Hilton Baltimore. Motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists in the area of W. Pratt Street should use caution and plan ahead for traffic delays. Traffic updates along W. Pratt Street have been updated as follows: Two lanes open eastbound Pratt Street (between Greene Street and Howard Street) Eutaw Street remains closed indefinitely Access to the Marriott Hotel is only being maintained via Lombard Street.
